The NADA protocol consists of the insertion of five, small, fine, sterile stainless steel needles under the surface of the skin on specific sites in the outer ear. NADA-UK recommends only the use of disposable needles. No electrical stimulation is used. These five points are standard points for the treatment of substance misuse and anxiety.
NADA-UK training consists of these five points only .
The treatment involves sitting quietly, meditating or just relaxing after the needles are put in, and afterwards, tiny studs ( seeds ) can be left in place on the acupuncture sites, to continue the effect of the treatment.
The NADA protocol is most effective when used in combination with other treatment modalities to meet the professional standards of the field. The combined application of acupuncture with counselling and self-help / support groups, etc. enhances treatment effectiveness.

Clients are usually surprised to discover that daily acupuncture provides consistent relief of cravings and withdrawal symptoms, but good results can be obtained with frequent session, if not daily.
