Phobias - Fears and Self-limiting Beliefs

A Phobia is a type of anxiety disorder. There are many specific phobia's - Acrophobia is a fear of heights, agoraphobia is a fear of public places and claustrophobia is a fear of enclosed spaces. If you become anxious and extremley self-conscious, you could have a social phobia. Other phobia's include fears of, driving on motorways, water, flying, animals, dental treatment, needles and blood.
Life for people with phobia's can be very restricting, as they try to avoid what they are afraid of. If they cannot they may experience distressing symptoms:
Panic and fear
Rapid heartbeat
Shortness of breath
Trembling
A strong desire to get away

Agoraphobia & Claustrophobia
Do open spaces make you panic? or are you overwhelmed by fear in confined spaces? Agoraphobia and Claustrophobia can limit your life. The fear of open spaces or feeling closed in, can both restrict your lifestle and lead to avioding places or situations. The therapy will work with you to release your fears of open spaces or small or confined spaces. The aim is to provide you with the power to overcome your fears and get on with your life without worries.
Fear of Flying
Does your heart flutter at the thought of flying? It is estimated that about 10-25 per cent of the population suffers from fear of flying. This means that up to one in four of us has this phobia to varying degrees. Air travel is one of the safest forms of modern transport. But, fear of flying, or aviaphobia, can make it impossible to climb inside a plane, let alone take off in one. The dread you feel makes it hard to believe there's nothing to worry about.

Phobia's Here are some common phobia's, there are many others:-
Fear of injections / blood.
Does the thought of sharp needles make you feel anxious? Are you putting your health at risk? Everyone recognises the usefulness of injections, but the thought of having your skin punctured by a sharp needle prevents you from getting the attention you need. You know its for your own good, but the sight of someone sticking a sharp object into your skin can be terrifying.
Meridian Hypnotherapy sessions may focus on fears of injections and fear of blood. The aim is to assist you to feel calmer and confident to get the jabs you need to keep you healthy.
Fear of dental treatment.
Does the thought of going to the dentist make you nervous? Neglecting your teeth and dental hygiene because of it? No-one enjoys visiting the dentist. All those injections and drills are guaranteed to set your teeth on edge. But giving into this fear can lead to rotting teeth, gum disease and halitosis. Bad breath may make you smile less, sapping your confidence.
Fear of heights
Do heights make you feel faint and dizzy? Are you being controlled by your fear of falling? Vertigo causes endless anxiety. It's sometimes enough to avoid great heights, often anything above the bottom rung of a ladder can be inaccessible. You feel helpless, vulnerable and disorientated, unable to experience things others take for granted.
The therapy will assist you to break free from the fear and rise above the panic.
Fear of water / swimming.
Does fear of water stop you from enjoying your life to the full? There are many reasons why people develop a fear of water, or Aquaphobia. An experience or learned behaviour. The fear of water session will help you put your phobia into perspective and overcome your anxieties about touching or entering water.

Conquer your fear of stinging insects. Causing chaos when a bee or wasp enters a room? Bees, wasps and other insects are tiny but the fear of being stung may be huge. This fear can make the most mature of us into babbling babies, as the panic over the pain becomes magnified in our minds. The intention is to help you to become calm and in control.
